Notes
The only way I’ll be able to do the above is by time blocking and bulk creating + scheduling content in advance.
I have a handful of friends who will help with design, podcast, and editing but will be heavily leaning into tools that can do as much of the heavy lifting as possible.
I am currently looking into existing AI agents that can automate some of the menial tasks that come with all of this and if I can’t find any then I’ll spend a weekend building a few of them specific to my needs.
You might be surprised to see Instagram so high on the list of priorities. I did this because it’s high signal (for me) in terms of growth potential, content repurposing, and top of funnel potential (able to share a wide range of topics from lifestyle to educational). I already have 24k followers there so it shouldn’t be too hard to re-engage them by creating highly shareable content (which leads to growth). I can create a short form video or carousel and repurpose for LinkedIn (which also has high growth potential). Lastly, I am able to share a wide range of topics — self development, marketing, business, overlanding, passion projects, advice, etc. I will keep a consistent overall theme for IG but will try to spotlight different aspects of my life so that the account doesn’t turn into another bland business guru profile.
The podcast should be a huge driver for content. I’d like to really milk each episode by producing threads, essays, case studies, carousels, and short form videos. I don’t anticipate these moving the needle too much in terms of podcast subscriber growth, but will still be great social/newsletter content since I have a very specific approach for how I plan to conduct my interviews, the questions that I’ll ask, and the overall theme of the series.
In terms of growth, I’ll use social to drive people to the newsletter, then use newsletter to highlight the podcast (and more), then use the podcast to drive people back to social. My reasoning is — what’s the lowest effort action the audience can take (ideally in less than 2 clicks). Once they are in my network, I will remain top of mind by sharing high quality on a consistent basis.
I suspect community management will be a huge driver for growth. This will be a ton of work but should prove to be worth it if I can be consistent and make time for it on a daily basis. Don’t think this should be outsourced since I often get ideas for content in my replies. Also great to genuinely build 1v1 relationships with people, even it is tedious and time consuming.
But why do all of this?
My thesis is that build an online presence is one of the highest leverage uses of your time
AI is allowing non-technical people to build products much easier. I think brand & distribution will become the ultimate moat
An engaged community = Leverage (ultimately resulting in opportunities, freedom, & control)
Distribution allows you to highly separate your inputs from your outputs
And lastly, I think building an online presence increases the surface area for “luck” to happen to you.
